Visit of Benedict XVI to Cameroun and Angola (17-23 March 2009)

While reading closely the speeches of the Pope during his recent travels in Africa, I noticed that he dealt with a large number of themes with clarity and depth. These themes are also of interest to us as Spiritan missionaries. So, I wish to highlight some sections and offer them for reflection to all my Spiritan brothers and sisters. Nothing however, could be better than to read the speeches themselves which are accessible on the site www.vatican.va .

Center for Spiritan Studies: Duquesne

The rich legacy of the Spiritan tradition lies at the very heart of Duquesne University and forms its guiding principles and practical ethos. The Center for Spiritan Studies, inaugurated in September 2005, is a new collaboration between the Congregation of the Holy Spirit and Duquesne University that promotes research into Spiritan history, tradition and spirituality.

The purpose of the Center is to foster creative fidelity to the Spiritan charism in the contemporary world, through a partnership between professed Spiritans, Spiritan Lay Associates and their collaborators.

Spiritan Martyrs

During the sixties, the history of theCongregation was marked by a series of sad events: On January 1, 1962, twenty Spiritans, eighteen of whom were Belgians, were massacred at Kongolo. They were killed not because of their nationality but because of their faith.

SPIRASI

SPIRITAN DIARY
-June -

.
“To walk humbly with our God”
(cf. Micah 6:8)

The historical data and the texts that have been gathered together for this Diary are like footprints: they invite us to join our Spiritan ancestors in the long journey they made in the service of the Gospel.
